Should I try to stop this note from getting to him?

To make the story short, this guy and I at work have been flirting with each other, my boss told me we were closing down. I thought I'd never see him again so I decided to give him my number, the day I go to do that he's not there. So I write him a note, and tell one of his friends to give it to him. Boss calls me back later and tells me we aren't closing just yet. Should I try to intercept this note (to avoid any awkwardness) before it gets to him or should I just let it get to him?
