Relationship between hydrochloric acid secretion in the stomach and bicarbonate production in the pancrease?
HCL in the stomach is secreted to denature protein. When food contents in the stomach turns into chyme and get pushed into the small intestine the pancreas will secrete bicarbonate which is a buffer to increase the pH of chyme entering the small intestine.
