Vets/vet techs/cat health experts-feline leukemia question,please?
i have 5 cats with feline leukemia, all still asymptomatic.i also have 2 negative kitties.i keep the felv+ and the negative cats seperated in different parts of the house.i would love to put the negative kitties in a bedroom for a few hours, and let the felv+ guys have access to the living room for a little while.i would remove the climbers, toys dishes and scratching posts of the healthy kitties while the felv cats are there.since it is spread by saliva, urine, biting, blood and giving birth,i assume it would be ok for the cats just to play and walk on furniture?or am i mistaken? the felv cats get plenty of love, but live at the back of the house, where we visit and care for them.i just thought they would enjoy spending time with the family in the living room,a more central location.we would enjoy their company.but i dont want to jeaopardise the healthy cats, who stay in the living room most of the time.is it ok as long as the cats are in no direct contact,or is even walking across the same room bad?im not sure how, since it is a blood and secretion borne virus, not an airborne one like flu? any advice welcome. ps-i rescued the felv+ cats from being pts at the shelter.as long as they remain asymptomatic and enjoy their lives,i will let them have a shot at life, whether short or long.they are all doing well so far.again, the negative and positive cats will never meet,i just want to put the healthy cats in another space briefly and let the felv cats enjoy the living room a little bit each day.
