Want to ask him to the movies?

i really like my guy friend (we are both 18). and we just graduated and we hung out the whole last week of school (because it was tons of field trips to like a lake and amusement park) and sometimes i feel like he could like me back. he texted me the other day asking what i was doing and we ended up going to some grad parties together. i want to see if he wants to go to the movies tonight with me but im too nervous....would a guy find this annoying or cool that i inivited him to the movies. and im nervous just for rejection. should i take a risk and show him that i am interested in him? i think my biggest fear is rejection or super awkwardness. any advice? how should i ask him? what casual way can i ask him to see the movie...without implying we should invite others (i just want it to be the two of us)
